Another of Rome's strengths was it logistical efficiency. The Roman army was always well supplied and usually well paid. It also kept track of legionaries pay and each legion had a banker who was trusted with their savings so they did not have to be constantly worried about theft in the camp or carry all their money on their person. The legion also kept a copy of each man's will and assigned each century duties in camp (such as digging the ditch or guard duty) and rotated them to stay fair. It also kept strict discipline, communicated efficiently and quickly through trumpet calls and kept a clear chain of command. This clear organization kept the legions fed, armed and in high moral and contributed massively to their many victories.
